By organizing a V-day event – the Centre for Women’s Studies wishes to promote a specific concept of women cooperation and solidarity with women with disabilities – through workshops and the joint performance of powerful theater play The Vagina Monologues, written by Eve Ensler, we want to question the manner on which disabled women deal with barriers they face, as well as the State’s/City’s relation toward women with disabilities.
Thus, the aim of this V-day event is to raise public awareness as to the everyday discrimination women face due to their disabilities, including their experience with all forms of violence, but also to empower women with disabilities to express their sexuality and desires and participate in city’s cultural life ‘without barriers’.
