Information about the Centre’s activities, scholarships, gatherings and conferences, as well as women’s organizations activities and other civil initiatives can be found in the office and notice boards in the Centre. Office manager: Maja Makar The organization The Centre for Women’s Studies is registered as an organization with the membership of 53 full and supporting members. The organizational bodies assigned by the Statute of the Centre are Assembly, Board and Supervisory board. The president of the Centre for Women’s Studies is Iva Grgic. The executive director of the Centre is Rada Boric. Members of the Board with two years mandate (2008-2010) are: Rada Boric, Renata Jambresic-Kirin, Juliette Janusic, Jasminka Pesut, Martina Petrinjak, Sandra Prlenda and Snjezana Vasiljevic. The historyThe Centre for Women’s Studies in Zagreb, is the first multi/inter/disciplinary programme concerning women’s issues in Croatia, founded in 1995 and led by feminists, scientists, artists and women’s and civil activists. The Centre was founded as a reaction to war and post-war context in Croatia, with its initial wish of solving all problems that women faced as a consequence of war. It represented an act of resistance to chauvinistic and misogynous surrounding and an advocacy for critical thought, antimilitaristic culture of non-violence and affirmation of women and gender-oriented knowledge. The primary motivation for the Centre’s foundation was to provide systematic education and research in women’s topics on the basis of interdisciplinary and interactive approach and critical models of knowledge. The founders of the Centre for Women’s Studies are: Aida Bagic, Rada Boric, Nadezda Cacinovic, Sanja Ivekovic, Zeljka Jelavic, Biljana Kasic, Jasmina Lukic, Nela Pamukovic, Karmen Ratkovic, Vesna Terselic, Neva Tölle and Maja Uzelac. The coordinators of the Centre were: Biljana Kasic ('95-'06), Zeljka Jelavic ('95-'05), Aida Bagic ('99-'02) and Tea Skokic ('00-'02). In the period from 2006 to 2008 Sandra Prlenda was the executive director, and Zeljka Jelavic was the president of the Centre. The members of the organizational team during past years were: Annika M. Gifford, Svjetlana Milicevic, Vanja Ratkovic, Irena Blazincic, Ana Pavlic, Natasa Petrinjak, Valerija Barada and Iva Bulic. The Centre’s financial associate was Milka Bagic. Creators of the Centre’s visual identity are: Vesna Pavlakovic, Sanja Ivekovic, Iva Babaja, Susan Jakopec, Andreja Kuluncic, Nevenka Sudar, Sanja Bachrach Kristofic, Kristina Babic and Martina Pticek.
